Time for New Glasses

Time for New Glasses on The Riza Magazine

It’s time for new glasses. I often get frustrated with the process of getting glasses. I don’t mind getting my vision checked, but I very much dislike the managing my insurance and my optometrist who really wants me to buy designer glasses from them. I love you Gucci and Valentino, but I really don’t want to have your name going across the frame of my eyewear. Plus Rich BFF spilled the tea on those designer glasses.

I’ve admired Jenna Lyon’s glasses style for so long now and her style was my aim when I did Warby Parker’s try-home service. Jenna Lyon looks great in both metal frames and big acetate frames. I told myself that this time around, I wanted to find some big acetate frames, but to my surprise, I’m leaning toward another pair of gold metal frames.

What I look from when testing frames are:

  1. Does the frame slip off my face?

  2. Does the frame touch my face when I smile?

After testing for the fit of my medium wide face, low bridge nose, and high cheek bone I tested the glasses with some outfits. I often wear hats so I needed to try if style of the frames works with both casual hats and stylish felts hats. I also checked if the frames looked well with a casual look and a semi-casual look, the two ways I’m often dressed. After my try-home test, I felt good about the Abe. They work for my casual and semi-casual looks and I love how they pair well with a baseball cap or a felt hat. Winner winner, chicken dinner, well, maybe. I might order another try-home set and repeat this process. With this free service, why not make sure your pick is the one. You can never be too sure with glass you’ll be stuck with for next two years.
